S70 GLT High Idle, Inoperable Temp Gauge, Will not start warm
Folks I have a major issue,
My 1999 Volvo S70 GLT has thrown its latest curve ball at me.
I had noticed the car had high idled on its own about a month ago but the problem dissipated so I thought nothing of it but now it has come back at me with a vengeance.
In short,
My car will start when cold, which will initially have a rocket high rpm of 2500 before settling into a high idle of 1100 or so in park, between 1000-1200 in drive and reverse. Additionally, my temp gauge doesn't budge but when it reads accurately it seems that the car will idle at the normal RPM, more often than naught though the temp gauge will remain at zero or creep up to the lower quarter of the gauge and then gently fall again to zero. Lastly, the car will not start when warm, it will turnover like crazy and if I'm lucky and said my prayers that morning it will start after pumping the gas pedal vigorously... I recently replaced the thermostat other than that I haven't attempted to correct this issue.
Does anyone have any clue?

Get a code reader and read the temp in different stages of operation. I would likely start with idle valve if you have one. Not sure about the post '98 cars.
Here is the best prayer I have prayed in regards to my car running properly: Dear Lord, please bless me to make enough money to have a professional fix my car when it breaks or only let easy stuff that I can fix break. Amen.
