Question about temp gauge shows snowflake in warm weather

Question about temp gauge shows snowflake in warm weather

Last night my outside temperature gauge showed 29 degrees F with a snowflake. It is was closer to 70 degrees F. Any idea what is causing this?

Bad sensor? Bad wiring from sensor? The sensor itself is in the driver's side mirror housing.

thanks for the tip. I will check (it would have to be obvious for me otherwise not sure how to check, hehe)
