Default S70 - Help identifying suspension parts and advice

Hi all - I apologize in advance for my ignorance. I'm trying to (a) identify the name of the bracket and the piece that goes into the bracket and (b) see if anyone has any advice on whether or not I have options other than parting the car out. I'm attaching a photo of the broken bracket and the piece that it supports. 1999 S70 was hit in the front left fender, driving the fender into the wheel. Just was able to look underneath and saw this broken bracket, which is welded to the frame (at least I think it is). The photo is looking at the front suspension of the left wheel, looking from the front towards the back of the car.

Can someone tel me what these pieces are called, and since the welded-on bracket is broken, is there any real opportunity to repair it? The rest of the car is in pretty good shape....

Thanks in advance.

Mark

Ouch. You need a new subframe and it would probably be a good idea to replace the control arm too. But the control arm is the least of the worries.

So it sounds like the controller arm bracket on the subframe is broken then. Possibly a stupid question, but is replacing the subframe possible?

Now THAT is ugly

If you know a REALLLLY good welder they could shape and weld a piece of flat steel to the outside of the 2 subframe ears. I personally would not do it, but a good welder could. The right thing to do is replace the subframe. It'a not a terrible job, probably avout 8-10 hrs+ in the garage. The engine will require support from above. The rack& pinion will need to be unbolted from it, anti-sway disconnected.. to name a few of the harder things.. Lots of attaching things to the subframe, like motor mounts, wiring, hose fasteners.

With that damage, I agree, the control arm should be replaced, the anti-swal link should likely be replaced. The strut should be inspecgted to see if its bent - I'd just replace it if its got any mileage on it. The inner tie rod end may be bent and may need replacement.

Where is the car and how much would you be willing to sell it for?

It isn't an 8-10 hour job. I don't know what book time is, but I'd bet it's only around 3 hours. It isn't a hard job at all. And if you can find a used subframe, it might even come with control arms.

Maybe with impact tools, prior experience and a lift. In the garage it would take a while. When I replaced the rack&pinion it took me more than 3 hours just to support the engine and drop the subframe the few inches I needed

Sorry, I misread. I thought you said in a garage, meaning a shop, not in the garage.

I don't think it really cost that much to replace the sub-frame & lower control arm. cuz most of the parts u can find it used. is easy to replace that too, should not cost that much .
