S70 model year confusion
Hi, I'm new to the forum and looking for a bit of advice and help. I have an S70 2.5T that I've owned for nearly 20yrs. It's a UK model and was first registered in Sept 1997 but when I order service items for it, it always comes up on databases as an 98 car and I notice that the Forum states that this model was made from 98 - 2000.
Why the discrepancy ?
Why the discrepancy ?
Aren't all cars on earth like that? I thought next year models for everything come out in September. Once in a while something will hit the market at a different time, but almost always September.
Common problems on cars this age are heater cores (replaced on my 99 and needing to be replaced on one of my 98s), air conditioning evaporator (replaced on one of my 98s - this is very expensive as you have to remove the dashboard). Electronic throttle module on 99s and 2000s (although Volvo has an extended 10 year, 320,000 km warranty - see the post at the top of this thread). There is also the cost of regularly replacing brakes, engine and suspension components on high mileage cars to consider. 98s require a timing belt change every 110,000 km, and I think 99s and 2000s do it every 170,000 km. In summary, always check the service book for every car you buy. This will give you an idea of the costs to expect, which can be incorporated into the sale price.
