Default S70 New Motor

I'm rather a newbie to mechanical work. I have a 98 S70 T5 manual ran great for 3 years until recently the motor blew. So I found a cheap 2.4L motor with very little miles on it. As far as installation was fairly straight forward with a few tweaks here and there but I'm still running on the t5 set up. What I have noticed is a gain in low end power but severe loss after 4000 rpms. So my question is do I need to get the ecu tuned for the 2.4 with out vvt and what other modifications would be desirable. Thanks in advance.

You may need to replace the ECU to the LPT specs. Or maybe you can install the T5 turbo and see what happens.

I actually have the 16t on the motor and it just doesn't really help in the top end. So I'm guessing the ecu to the lpt would help. Or is there even really much danger in leaving the t5 ecu in it. Right now I'm just trying to have a reliable car for a while until i graduate next year.

The T5 ecu should be fine.
Alot of GLT people run T5 ecu's.

Thanks tech, that's good to know. So there must be some other problem.

How do you know that the other engine had low miles? Also, all because it had low miles doesn't mean that it was in good shape. Has a compression test been done? Maybe you have some vacuum leak or something. Do you have a cel?

Thanks for the reply. It's not so much that it was slow just not as big of a kick at 4000. I also just recently replaced the ten year old hoses for the turbo and that did quite a number on helping it out. Just glad it won't hurt the engine. Thanks again.

Yeah the engine was tested so it was fine. I think it was just the piping that was the problem. It's hard to determine the performance compared to the old motor though because of the completely different power curves.
