Exclamation S70 Suspension

I have a 2000 GLT/SE and I need some help as where to start on fixing my suspension. I got the car from a woman who bought it at an auction and she sold it to me. It had 151680 when I got it. Currently 154859 and I have noticed a few problems. First there is a clunking/bobbing sound coming from the front passenger side when I roll over rough roads (intermittent) and a loose sound that comes when i hit an uneven spot on the road. Also there is a whining sound that comes when I turn the wheel, im guessing it could be the power steering fluid. Also how do you go about dtermining if the control arms/tie end rods are bad?

The sound could be the fluid....but for the clanking...Probably a bad strut mount of spring seat or could also be a bad endlink. and the whinning sound could also be a bad wheel bearing.
You can check the rubber strut mounts for signs of cracking, and check the endlinks boost for cracking.

Wait for others to comment

At that mileage you have to replace the entire suspension. And motor mounts. I guarantee you the rt side mount is broken and separated metal on metal.

Sway links, control arms, tie rods, struts, strut springs, and 4 to 5 motor mounts. If you can do it yourself (doesn't sound like it), then the cost isn't too bad. Dealer cost will be well over $2500.

Thats coo. Well I am a car fantic and could get some help. What would you recommend i start and finish. I figured that I would need a complete over haul and didnt know where I should begin. What should I have done by a professional and what should I try. I saw some diagrams and replys off ipd from guys who did their own control arms, tie rod ends and it ddint take them too long to do it.

I just left Midas and had them look at the steering and suspension. They diagnosed that the passenger strut/strut mount are bad and should be replaced. I know I should do them in two's, but should I still go about and replace the steering components.
