Default shifter thingy not sure whats it called

i have a 98 s70 automatic and would like to know how to take of the shifter thing that you change gears with like from P,R,N,D that one does any one know because when i usualy try somthing i break it and i dont want to break that thing. lol

I am assuming that you are referring to the shifter "****" and that the reason you want to take it off is that the button is sticky. They actually break but there are repair kits available. IPD gives fairly good instructions also.

To answer your question, lift up as hard as you possibly can - you can't break it.
You do stand a 50/50 chance of having some little muscle or two in your back ache the next day from the awkward position you will be in.

Hey just wondering if "IPD" stands for Indianapolis Police Department?" or ?

ok thanks and no my friend gave me one that has like wood trim on it and i want to put it on cause it looks better then just grey plastick

sorry im not good at english so i probably spell alot of things wrong and dont know what some things are called.
