Short ram intake, S70
Hey I was thinking about putting a short ram intake on my car but wanted to ask some questions first..
After reading up a little bit I've knoticed that some people say you won't gain any performance from it but some say you get around 10 hp? Also some say it makes your throttle responce better? I've also read that if you don't have any other mods it won't do much of anything for you..?
Was going to get it from ipd or maybe est..
Just wanted to get some first hand experience?
Thanks in advance for the help

1. You may or may not gain anything. You can possibly gain up to 10Hp. If you fo gain any, it wont be extremely noticeable.
2. You should see a little more throttle response. I did. I have the EuroSportTuning (EST)
3. Other mods will help out yes, but it doesn't neglect the part your wanting to install. Other performance parts will net you more possible power yes.
*Personally it's a noise maker. Sounds like Darth Vader, which is really cool.

Best thing to do is to get a K and N panel filter for around 40 pounds which replaces your standard one great investment it wont hurt anything! Trouble with forcing more air in is that most volvo engines reserculate engine fumes and forcing more air may put pressure on oil-seals thoughout the engine, crank seals , cam seals etc .

Yeah, I was just going to say that, both SRIs have heat shields, but IPD's completely surrounds the filter. Intakes are always a good place to start when it comes to modding your car, but of course you should make sure everything else is up to par before you start modding.
And the car runs really good, 115k on the clock (99 s70 t5)
