Stop light switch removal how to
My 1998 Volvo s70 GLT stop light switch is being intermittent. Brakes lights don't work most of the time. Tried to see if it was a loose wire etc and it just seems to be the switch itself. I can get one for a good price locally but I can't figure out how to get it out. I can get the electical connectors of but can't see how it comes off.
Did many searches and can't find the answer.
Anyone?
Thanks WL

No cruise problems.
The guy at the auto parts store showed me how to remove. It was easier to figure out when I had the new switch. It has 2 springy parts that click when installed. You have to extend the switch all the way out and then you are able to squeeze the 2 parts and remove the old switch.
It was the problem. Very easy to change once you know how to remove. Was easy to put the new one in. It just slides in and clicks. Adjust the length so the switch goes on when brake is depressed.

I just replaced the switch on my 98 S90. It was a pain in the rear to remove, but once out, it was easy installing the new one. I tried sliding the sleeve forward like explained but it didn't want to budge. I had to beat it into submission. The thing was tucked way up in there and hard to get to. My hand is like hamburger now. I told myself I would not be defeated though, so in the end, the brake switch lost. Not sure why Volvo buried the thing. Guess they just want you to go to the dealer to get it fixed. Probably would have cost 400 dollars for this. I got the switch with shipping for 30. Winning! BTW, there are no good videos on this on youtube in case anyone is searching it.
