Default THinking of buying a S70 GLT SE for $5500

Hi all,
I am new to these forums. I have had a rad old '89 740 gl, it is literally the best car, survived two head on collisions, leaking head gasket, nothing will stop her. but I am looking to buy a 2000 s70 glt se Turbo. for around $5500.

Now my old car was simple, no turbo etc. Am I getting into some expensive repatirs with turbo (or AWD) in the newer volvos? Anything else I should know about this year and make?
I am definitely looking for a car that is not super expensive to fix along the way. Any info would help thanks so much!

I think is somewhat expensive on the price. Try and find the 98 model, it is basically the same except that it doesnt have and electronic throttle module and ignition coils, it has wires. Overall there are good cars. i was just talking today to my local volvo mechanic and he has a 98 as his personal car. He says that the best year is the 98. I think a fellow members here would think the same.

thanks for the response. I missed out on a great 98, before i got the funding together. damn.
I have a friend who is selling her 2003 v40 wagon 4d, 87,000 mi --- i might be able to get it for a low price like 4k range. I know it sounds like the volvos got pretty sketchy after 98, but are volvo folks saying it is better to get another make like honda rather than volvo? The mechanic I asked about it today said they are "junk" and unfixable. Does anyone know anything about the '03's? She has had it 6 out of the 10 years and her and her husband have not had any major issues with it, and it's been well kept up by a mechanic type guy. (her husband)

(I have ruled out the AWD 00 and 01's, seems like those ones are nightmares from the reviews)
Thanks,
Brindl

Those 03 v40's or s40's have become really good in terms on reliability. If you have service history it should be a good deal.
