Default timing belt noise

I am not sure if the noise is actually from the timing belt, but the noise is around there. The noise sound like two metal touching together when the belt turn to a point, the noise goes on and on as the belt runs, the noise is very light and can barely hear. When I accelerate the noise goes faster and more clear. I went to a few auto shops, they couldn't find anything wrong with it . I don't want to go to Volvo dealer because they will charge me $99 just to check where the noise is from? Is that noise normal to S70, or my car really have problem. Thanks!

The miles is only 75000. This moring when I starting the car, the noise get worse and different. Then I switch off the car and turn back on the noise get softer. And I drove like 5 miles the noise back to the orignal noise. I only hear those loud noise this moring, when I start the car. Thanks.

Sounds to me like the Timing Belt tensioner or idler is getting ready to lock up.

Have you had the timing belt replaced yet?

From what I have seen they need to be replaced between 70k and 80k.

Do you know is expensive to replace both (tensioner and idler)?

If you do the Belt and Idler and Tensioner with Labor should be like $400 to $500 parts and labor.

I just discover one more thing, the noise sound different when the car in drive and reverse (even my foot on brake). The noise sound like when cicada make noise at the night time or early morning. When I shifted back to park, the noise back to original noise. Do you know why? Thanks.

Maybe from the stress of being in Gear and the Idle change.
