hey guys new to the forums, not a volvo person myself im more of a toyota fan, in here for my dad mostly. anyways i have reason to believe the tranny is shot. ive taken it to the dealer and they kept saying that it was the turbo. after 3 or 4 different jobs and fixes they did and bout 500 later, same problem. BTW its a 1999 S70 2.5T AWD auto.
soo... here's the problem....

she wont shift into 4th, it goes 1st second and 3rd. once the engine gets to opperating temp it wont shift out of 3rd, like it takes off in third stays in 3rd and cruises in 3rd. and in about 2 weeks the tranny fluid went from goldeny type color to black and burnt smelling. as for lights ive got the arrow flashing and the check engine light on.

so what's your opinion?

The stealer would know better than us. Doesn't sound like the transmission to be, but some electronic component. Is the W mode pushed in the controls?

 

the stealer? and you cant engage winter mdoe the arrow just flashes....

 

Because the dealer steals all your money. Could be your transmission control unit. Stop driving it

 

no worries it's been off the road for the last 3 weeks, if not more. is this unit part of the tranny or a seperate part? my dad was looking at some used tranny's and if putting a new tranny in isnt going to solve the problem i could save him money by just changing that unit.
