Default trans probs

I have a 98 s70. The transmission was repaired but was shifting really bad after tha:; long shifting points , too strongs ones (too much pressure) but at the end; few days later broke something. It was repaired again (everything new inside, including the converter) and now: it goes into first gear and reverse but doesn't shift to second, third and fourth gears. Before the original transmission broke down, the speedometer were not working, but the transmission never had problems shifting. Right now, the speedometer is not working neither. Please, need help here.

Was the transmission replaced or rebuilt? IMO, the transmission is not fixed until it works properly. They shouldn't even return the car to you until it drives properly. If they can't manage that, get your money back and go somewhere else.

On another note, I have read that these transmissions DO NOT rebuild well. Volvo does not recomend it. I had a used one installed in my car. A lot of the mechanics charge a lot because they will likely have to do the job over if it doesn't work properly. There is no way to test it before you install it and it's a lot of work.

Is your ABS light on?

Thanks for your time. The ABS light is off. When the trans was fixed first, it shift but not as should be. Then was opened again, fixed something and now doesn't shift.

So, what are you going to do? If it never shifted right, they didn't fix it. I had a tranny dropped in mine and it shifted right and is still going strong. I honestly would not drive it away from their shop if it didn't run/shift right. I know you probably don't have a lot of transportation options, however, they need to fix your car and give you a loaner or rental until they do, unless they are ready to hand you your money back.

Did you get any kind of warranty?
