Good evening,
I'm going to change out the transmissions fluid but I cant figure which type I need. The manual says Dexron III and Mercon?
Are they interchangeable? Can someone point me in the right direction?
I have a 2000 S70GLT front wheel drive

many brands label their ATF "Dex III/Mercon"and you can find both regular and synthetic formulas. Dex vs Mercon is as simple as Dex is a GM standard and Mercon is Ford's standard for ATF! Note that the are also other Dex formulas ie Dex VI etc which are not compatible to your model so sticking with the manual's recommendation is the way to go.
