Turbo Seal ??
Thanks to you guys My volvo has been back on the road for 10,000 miles after the new motor swap!! (thanks again)
But I do still have a problem. I have oil in all my hoses, and Im using about a 1/2 qt every 1,000 miles or so. Im assuming that it is a leaky seal in my turbo which has 157,000 miles on it. but not sure. i have looked at IPD for replacement seals with no luck. any ideas or helpful hints would be greatly appreciated.

The seals are internal parts of the turbo. And when they're bad, usually the bearings are on their way out, too. What you need to do is have the turbo rebuilt, or get a rebuilt one. Don't buy one of the eBay rebuild kits and try to do it yourself- turbos are precision balanced to handle up to 200,000 RPM rotational speeds, and disturbing this balance, even a minuscule amount, will be disastrous for the turbo. Diesel service shops (the places that rebuild injection pumps and turbos for big trucks) will usually do car turbos as well, and they're usually reasonably priced. Look in your local phone book or online in your local area. You can also find rebuild turbos or CHRAs (Center housing rotating assembly, often called a "cartridge,") online for cheap, too, but be careful of these, as they are of varying quality/ customer support.
Oh, and if you want to get yours rebuilt, don't wait too long. the longer you wait, the more damage you'll do to the turbo, and the more a rebuild will cost. Good luck!
