If you change the turbo you will have to change the ecu. A ecu upgrade would be your best bet for upgrading/increasing your hp.

You currently have a 13g turbo in there. A 16T would be a good upgrade. However as said above an ECU upgrade will be needed. Why? Bigger turbo, your going to want to gain the most from it and a MBC just wont cut it. An ECU upgrade will be needed. Also a 3" mandrel bent downpipe to a 2.5" to 3" mandrel bent catback system with a free flowing straight through design muffler. Add a K&N panel filter in there and your good to go.

ECU tuners = IPD USA, RICA, BSR PPC These are the best and I wouldn't settle for less.

I personally doubt your tax return will cover all of it.

Default Awesome

I already have the straight through muffler and K and N style cold air. As far as 2.5" plumbing i can have my fab guy do it for free parts only if he doesn't have it laying around for him to mock somthing up. So a 3" downpipe is on my list, 16T turbo, ECU tune, MSD Ignition Coil, IPD performance Spark Wires, HD Turbo Control, Iridium Spark plugs. If that cant get me up to where i want ill be upset.. Especially when i lined up today to see what kind of power i have against a Saturn Ion Redline i lost by 3rd Gear he started pullin on me pretty even other than that. Im pretty sure i had alot more miles on my turbo and engine that sit now at 194K miles!
Just found a 16T turbo on amazon from CX Racing $438. Comes with waste gate and gaskets.
Price out:
Turbo $440
Ignition $100
Down Pipe $150 EBAY
ECU ??? price after i do mods
IPD Wires $80
TCV $100
Total: $870

If i was you id find me a T5 ECU instead of paying big bucks for tune. 16T, T5 ECU and exhaust you can get from ebay made by OBX for $350. And also bigger injectors from T5.

A T5 ECU while it is an upgrade it isn't the best option. An ECU upgrade is well worth the extra bones he will spend. Plus it will take into his advantage the other upgrades he plans to do. While a T5 ECU will not.
