VIDA scanner
Hi all,
With a VIDA scanner will I be able to reset my service light, program remotes? Does anyone have a link for info on just what I could do with this? Here is a eBay link. Would this be the right one?

Thanks

VIDA DICE is a two part system. You need the hardware (such as shown on eBay) plus a subscription to access the proprietary software features. I'm not exactly sure which features are propriety or not (ie OBD2 diagnostics are not proprietary - programming components mostly likely are) Check out https://gold.smcp.volvocars.biz/#/submenu/HOME to see what a dealer/shop uses. Some eBay offers may be promoting theft-ware so buyer beware. If you do decide to buy the unit, post up as I'm sure most of us are curious what the device does for you out of the box.

Volvo's Vida software (combined with a dice hardware unit) will not talk to a 1998. It is compatible for 1999+ cars.
To program a remote you would need the previous version of Volvo scan tool, that could talk to 1996-98 (and some earlier) cars. Also the PIN code is needed for your car - I would get that code from the Volvo parts department when needed to program a NEW 1998 remote for a customer. The early factory scan tool is made by Autodiagnos - it is the Autodiagnos multi tester pro and is needed to program remote, and many other functions.
Resetting the service light requires the multitester pro or a special tool - IPD discusses that in this Video
