Default Volvo S70 alarm sound etc.

I was wondering, a few years ago a friend of mine turned off my 1998 volvo s70 car alarm, I have no idea how to turn it back on. When I lock and unlock the car, it also doesn't make the unlock/lock beep it used to when the alarm was on. Anyone know how to get it working again? :/

What lock/unlock beep? For that matter, what alarm?

I'm serious. I've had the "immobilizer" kick in afew times with the hazard lights blinking but no sound.

Like when you press unlock the car usually makes the unlock sound. The beep. and the alarm doesn't go on anymore :/ No one knows how to do it and my friend forgot.

My 98 never made the sound. If it does not do it with the remote you need a new puter.

Your alarm horn is on the firewall in the center of the engine compartment. The horn comes loose a lot, maybe yours has come apart.

Mine has been like this since i got it. I figured the previous owners had pulled out a fuze or something for the sound. But i'll have to check the alarm horn that RSPI mentioned, I bet mine has come loose...

hmmm... well looks like my horn is there... but I wonder if the connection is loose.

I always wondered what that was! I'm missing the front portion, hence it's inoperability. (think I just made up that word)

We had a 99 back in 99 and it did not make any sounds when locking or unlocking - very disappointing to me. I like the audio signal that the doors are locked. I have a different 99 now - still no noise for the locks. it will beep if i lock the doors with the windows down - reach in and open the door. Not the horn but that other horn mounted on the firewall.

The horn on the firewall is the alarm horn. It has some kind of nut on the center of it. If that nut is not adjusted or tightened properly it will not sound right.

None of our cars beep when we set the alarm either. Our S70 flashes it's lights though. I usually listen for the sound of the locks setting. Tained my ears for that. I can hear it when I'm in the house and the car is in the driveway as long as no other noise is going on in the house.

Don't forget that you can add about 100 feet to the range of your remote if you use your head as an antenna. Just put the remote to your chin and press the button, you'll be amazed at the extra range.
