Volvo S70 Made from 1998 to 2000, this sporty model replaced the 850 sedan and instantly became a hit.

What year cylinder heads will fit a 99 2.4 non-turbo?

Default What year cylinder heads will fit a 99 2.4 non-turbo?

My friend who ran the car without coolant had it at a mechanic since I have never disganosed or done a cylinder head repair. If the cost is going to be over 1 grand they will probably dump the car and I can get it for nothing.

I might just drop in a used engine but if I were to replace the head what years are identical replacements?

For some reason I can't find any engines for the S70s in self service yards where it's very cheap to buy parts.

Will the 850's heads work on them as well?

No the 850 head will not work.
The 99 and up cars have VVT (Variable Valve timing) which they are different heads.

You need a non- turbo 99 or 00 S/V70 head. Period. The turbo heads have different valves, and the 98 and down heads don't have VVT.

Thanks for the replies.

I am still considering just dropping in a sub 100K mile engine that I replace all of the seals on, put on a new water pump, T belt, idler pullies, tensioner, plugs, etc...

Cheapest one near Houston I found is $750 with 80K miles.

I had found one for $300 earlier but it seems to have had the T belt snap so it's not worth repairing and the headaches/bloody knuckes.
