There's a liquid that you get, almost like a glue, that go on the back of the pads. Brakes squeeking aren't from the brakes on the rotors when you stop, they're from the the brake pads vibrating, this stuff subdues/stops the vibration.

It is silicone grease (autozone, walmart) that you put on the back of the pads and back of the shims. If you could buy cut shims it would help too.

LOL! Welcome to the European Auto Owners Club!!! What you have is a harmonic hum, like rubbing your finger around a wine glass rim. When the brake pads were installed someone should have installed the very thin pad shims and applied a type of grease that stops that. It is VERY COMMON. There is also a type of grease that can be applied to the back of the pad to stop it but I would use the shims if possible, it's more permanant.

they are very thin pieces of metal, a little thicker than aluminum foil. Usually the size and shape of the brake pads.
