Wheel sizes
Hello all,
I just received (for free!) a set of wheels which I believe belonged to an XC 70 station wagon size 205/65/R15 and was wondering if they would fit on my '98 S70.
The stock tire size which is on my car now is 195/60/R15
Btw, I just found out that two of my stock steelys are bent and have to be replaced.
I can only see a few options:
1) Replace the steelys which would cost $5 each plus $20 install and keep the 195 tires with about two years (maybe a little more) of life left.
-$30
2) Buy one used tire for the XC rims (since one rim is missing a tire) the three other tires have about a years worth of tread and were made in 04.
-$40
3) buy four new tires for the XC rims and sell the 195 tires and two good steelys for as much as I can get on craigslist.
-$400 minus income from sale of old ties and rims
Options two and three will be obsolete if they do not fit on a '98 S70 which if the main reason for my post.
The station wagon rims look something like this (without the R emblem)

What would you do if you were in my shoes?
Also, what is the consequences of running on bent rims. Right now it causes the steering column to shake at certain speed and rpm. I'm worried about long term damage to my car. Took two trips to the tire shop for them to figure this out, lol.

Well the wheel size is a 15" so there will be no problems in that area. The only difference so far is the tire size. If they offsets are similar then you would be OK there also. I would go with 4 new tires and the new wheels. Probably do a 205/60/15 tire. You don't need the extra height of the 65 series tire. If the wheels came off of an XC that is the reason they were a taller tire.
