That is where the Fllame trap part that connects to the induction hose goes.
You have that black piece with the white insert(Well maybe an insert) that turns and locks into the hose from the air filter housing to the throttle body. Both of the hoses you asked about in the one pic connect to the black piece.

Wow, I still cannot believe you have to remove the intake to access PCV system, what a joke. Terrible design. Thats only the second time ive said that about volvo, so that is still pretty good.
