Default Windshield washer T Connectors

I am having some issues with my windshield washer system. The jets on the hood trickle out fluid onto the window- a single stream of not very strong pressure - as opposed to a nice new car that sprays it with tremendous force.

When I looked under the hood, I found that both my t-connector and l-connector that attach the hose to the jets are cracked. Upon looking for new ones online I realized that the ones under my hood each have a screw in the bottom- the new ones don't.

Are these screws normal? I got the car from my dad who got i as a hand-me-down from my stepmom so god only knows how many little quick-fix mods have been done over time, but are the screws normal and do they need to be there? If i take them out then all the fluid comes out of the bottom of the connectors but they could have been an effort to fix a previous smaller crack....

Just put the new ones on and see if they work.
