Hi. I am going to put 4 new tires on my 1999 S70 AWD. I live in northern Minnesota, so they need to have decent snow traction. Since there 50,000 tire choices out there, I thought I see what you all liked for tires. Most of the miles will be around town. I would like to keep ride decent. Thanks.

 

If you want a better ride in the winter, would recommend running snows even on an AWD car (keep in mind you still need to stop and turn when on ice/snow...) The tires are a different compound that remains more pliable in cold. As to comparision shopping, I think TireRack has the best content for comparing. I'm currently running Generals (a Continental brand, made in the US) Altimax Artics on two of my cars and run Altimax G-max all seasons for the summer. I can't say they are the best tire ever as I found them a bit noisier than I prefer once they got some wear, but they are a great value with a good mix of wet/dry performance and longevity.

 

I like my Continental tires -- they seem in the same quality range as Michelin.
