Greetings to all,

Does anybody know why after locking the car with the remote the doors open when pulling on the door handle(all 4 doors)?
The alarm seems to be working. The lights flash and all 4 doors lock when pressing the lock button on the remote.

I would appreciate any info pertaining to this problem.

Sounds like you have Keyless Entry and it is functioning correctly. The car has built-in antennae that detect when the key fob is nearby. So long as the key fob is in close proximity to the car, you can unlock the doors and trunk without using the fob. Keyless Entry is an option, but most P3 and newer Volvos have it.

 

Thank you for the response. It seems with the key fob 30 feet away (inside the house) the doors are opening when I pull any of the door handles.
Any other possibilities?

So do you have keyless entry? How long have you owned the car? When did it start? How many key fobs do you own? Where are the other key fobs?

I saw a similar post on another forum and it turned out the other fob was sitting in the glovebox or console compartment the whole time.
