Default '09 S80 - Oil Leak ..Dealer says Vacuum Pump?

Hi - new here and to Volvos in general. I'm looking at buying a 2009 S80 with 50K miles - 3.2L engine. I test drove it at the Rover Dealer - everything went fine until I popped open the hood. There was a significant amount of oil on the drivers side of the engine - a little ways downward. - not near the fill hole.
The salesman said he would have it checked out by their mechanics and call me back...Their diagnosis: Faulty Vacuum Pump

I thought vacuum pumps were air related, not oil related...
Is there a vacuum pump that can leak oil on the drivers side?

Just looking for some pre-purchase advice.

thanks
Rob

Yep. Very common to leak. The rebuild kit is about $90.
