My 1999 s-80 coughs and revs for a few seconds ,then runs fine. Now it is misfiring and won't go over 2000 rpms. limp mode or some thing else? no dash codes or messages for a day.I disconnected battery,now I get urgent service message.had somewhat similar problem in '11,replaced fuel filter and pump,and 2 coils.My guess is coils,but they ain't cheap.Before I start rebuilding car from coils out ,any suggestions?

 

Get a code reader, not just an OBD 2 reader and see what codes you get so you can narrow down the problem icarsoft makes a good one.

p 0121 throttle body switch a circuit range . same code from multiple scanners. I ordered app switch, will be here in a few days. .1 coil was bad,replaced smooth idle now. volvo plugs in transit. APP switch is the way I'm playing it,then I will send out throttle body ***. for rebuild if neccesary. Thanks for response,how do you think I'm doing? am I on right path here? thanks. 190,000 purrs like a kitten ,but plastics are degrading. any one know a cheap place for mouldings and trim interior and such? Sounds like you are. For plastic stuff there really isn`t any after market. The time period for a manufacturer to keep parts available is over for 1999 so your at the mercy of a dealer who might have some. Junk yards and Ebay would be were to look for cheap.
