JCleme,

If you have the lower part of the seat off (pull up sharply on the front) you'll be able to see the tab that you have to hold back while pushing up. To reall get to the tab, you'll have to pull up on the leather/padding on the lower inside part of the pad. The bleeding will stop shortly after the tab tries to take your finger with it through its retainer slot. I got the Volvo dealership to knock the price down to about $290. All said, that was comparable to paying shipping to an online source. Mainly, the bird in hand philosophy applied--I needed the part now. I've included a picture of the tool I made from a pulley puller to turn the locking rings. This was the most challenging part of the job. I can't stress enough the need to have the tank down to 1/4 or less. Take the advice above to tie a string to the wiring harness from the driver's side (fuel level sender). Finally, pour some fuel into the reservoir of the pump (it's the attached cup) before sealing the tank. I didn't, and ran down my battery trying to get the pump primed.

lift up on the bottom of the seat and pull it out.. then remove the two outboard seat parts near the door.. then there should be a bolt on each side the needs to be removed.. go to trunk and release the seat backs... fold em down a bit and slide the right seat back out and then the center and then go to left side and pull left seat back out... im shure i missed something and maybe some of the order is off a bit as its been a while but thats the basics.. you will see a ring on each side of the car the one on the passengers side is the main pump assy and the other side is for the other little pump wich feeds gas from the drivers side over the hump and into the unit on the passengers side.. if you end up removing the pump you will need to syphon the gas down to about 1/4 tank and remove both rings.... i used a screw driver and hammer for this but there are other ways use your immagination.. remove the drivers side assy first and discconect it from the cover and then tie a tough string or small rope to it.. then pull the passengers side unit out and the assembly fromdrivers side out through the passengers side hole when you install the new unit tie that string to it and feed it through.. even with the string it was still a pain and got caught trying to go accross but eventualy i got it then put it back to geather in reverse order with new O rings..
