Default 1999 S80 Struts DSTC

Hey guys, my front struts are toast and I planned on ordering some over the net. Cost seemed OK and with 180,000 mi on it, I was going cheap. I did stop at Autozone and the dude there said that DSTC vehicles used a different strut and that they went for $500 plus a pop! $1000 is lot to spend on a 180k mi car and the rears probably need replacing too. Does anyone know if a regular strut will do the same job? I don't care of the DSTC doesn't work just want to know if I can put the $80 ones in.

not really sure. I can only comment on the ease of replacement.

I've replaced my upper strut mount bushings twice (every 60K miles) not real hard to do but compressing springs is dangerous. you may take it to and indy to have new struts put in. I personally would do mine myself but again dangerous if you are not careful.

Its not DSTC that uses a different strut but Active Suspension does. Normally found on R series or an additional factory option.

The OEM Sachs are quite good. Koni FSD for a stiffer ride.
