Yesterday, the lights dimmed in the message area, time/temp, mileage/gear screens and on the radio. Additionally, the upper center console lights are completely gone, the headlight switch lamp is gone and the high beams will not stay on when pulled back (yes..the headlight switch is on and the brightness dial for inside is all the way up). When I restarted the car last night, all was back to normal and then a couple minutes down the road...bloop...gone again. Throughout the day, I started the car several times, with all the lights coming back on on one occasion but then quickly back off. Of course the dealer says bring it in, but any ideas in the interim? Good thing I've had the car for a number of years and know where everything is without having to look!

I'm guessing it's the switch unit that is failing, short of replacing it, no real other option.
