Right after I bought car used with 67,500, I took is back for a number of complaints, once of which was a message coming up for transmission service required or requested.

The dealer was unable to repeat to the message or fetch any codes, msg hasn't appeared since but did it 3 times the week prior to the return visit.
I looked in the manual and it calls for fluid change only " at customer request ", no specified interval so I figure it couldn't be calling for mileage based routine service.

Any idea what this was or did they just make it go away?

This same visit back is where they did the struts in response to clunk & rattle in the front end, also wanted to do the little steering roller stops and a CV boot, plus replace all 4 tires in order to do an alignment that would have validity. Same idoits who sold it with mismatched front tires (buy hey, it passed state inspection). The fan control recall was done then too, they didn't bother to scan for recalls before they re-sold it, easy money for the shop; and guess what: the cooling system went crazy 2 weeks after I bought it.
