Default 2000 Volvo S80 break lights

I have a 2000 s80 and None if the break lights are working , I have replaced all bulbs fuses and even the break light switch under the pedal and the relay in the trunk . I’m lost. I don’t want to dump hundreds of dollars into this car, but I also don’t want to give up on it , she only has 83,000 miles true and original, and other then this stupid issue is perfect . Any ideas? Again they were working and then stopped , sometimes they would work and others they wouldn’t, now none are working. The turn signals and rear fogs and reverse lights all work.

time to trace wiring - volvowiringdiagrams.com should have the schematic. You need to start checking voltage at connection points, starting with fuses (read the owners manual - online versions are available) to find which fuse box supports the brake lights, then check for which relays and common circuits are involved. Look in the wiring diagrams to see if the CEM is part of your brake connection. Then check to see if you have voltage at the brake switch by the pedal, then have a helper press the brakes and check for voltage at the rear lights. If you have voltage up to the lights, then you need to check for connectivity to the grounding points.
