2001 S80 T6 or 2002 S80, which is better choice?
I am in the middle of a desicion what S80 to buy. I have two choices right now.
1. 2001 S80 T6, 80k miles, seems to be well maintained. However, no major tune up was done yet including changingtiming belt and spark plugs.
2. 2002 S80 base, 95k miles, well maintained, timing belt, brake and new tire were serviced.
Both selling prices are fairly similar around $10kand I am juggling my head. A mechanic mentioned that T6 Turbo seems to havevarious maintance problems such as oil leaks, but has a lot of power. Have anyone experienced any problems with 2001 T6 turbo? Please advise.
I found many tread suggesting avoiding 99-01 model. Does it mean 2002 S80 is better choice? Also, should I purchase an extended warranty? It cost me additional $2,000 for 3 years.
Please provide your honest suggestions.
Thanks,

Honestly I would look into a whole different model then the s80. Like an s70 or c70 or even V70. Hell you'd be happier with an 850 even.
If you want the s80T6 for power it has it, but it is heavy though. You can mod the T6's to be in the 300-350 Hp range and with a lot of money a lot more Hp. But it will cost some serious cash to upgrade the T6 with just simple things as Downpipes, Catback, Intake, Chip Tuning. Then it goes up from there.

Owning one for two years I have had (3) power steering leaks, one was a simple clamp replacement while the other two were involving replacement of the entire system. Have had a few sensors replaced, ABS module done, Brake Booster done, turbos resealed, Sludge on the oil area, just had my radiator replaced(coolant was leaking), SRS-Airbag light--> needed to replace a few seatbelts, Sun Roof needed new tracks to ride on ->1200$ job right there, blower motor replaced, and there are more things that I cant remember at the moment.
Everything here was done under warranty, so onlya litte money came out of my pocket...
Long story short you get the t6, Id make sure you get the warranty!
I drive my car hard and use the tiptronic mode a lot, so I imagine these things would happen...
The performance/power, smoooth silk ride, and great handling more than make up for this, and that is why I still decide to keep it, and since its done under warranty it doesnt bother me if anything goes bad...
If I had to get this car all over again, I would do it again...
t6 is quick, I think its really underestimated...
