I am new to the forum. I have a 2002 S80 T6 75th Anniversary Edition (#346 of 500) and wanted to see if anyone knows the value of the car or if there is even a demand for this year/model?
The car has about 100k miles, but sat for a few years, as it needed a PCV valve change. Ended up completing the work, changing a bunch of parts along with it(PCV Valve, intake gasket, fuel injectors, etc.) but the car isn't starting. It turns over, but suspect the fuel pump went.
I am curious if it is worth investing more in the car to get it running, and if there is a demand for this edition. If its of interest to anyone, I'd consider selling it as is. All thoughts welcome!
To judge the value, I'd strart by researching on KBB.COM (Kelly Blue Book)
Next you can do a nationwide search for similar years/models on a website like auto-trader.com or auto-trader classic. The car looks to be in "fair" to "good" condition but not pristine.
My opinion it's not worth spending any more $ if you wish to sell it. As to a demand, again my opinion, there is a very small market, maybe 100 people or less nation wide.
Unless it was 9/10 pristine then it's a still a very small market. Sitting for a long time 2+ years is not a good thing unless its humidity controlled. Temperature is not as important. If you wished to get it running and keep it then it might be worth spending what ever you think would be within your budget. Transmission problems like hoonk said are an issue. Example for value: I have a 2009 T6 for last 7 years. It has every option available in that year, plus a few upgrades that I did in the last 18 months. It's very good mechanically , body and undercarriage are good but the car looks a bit rough., dent here/paint of hood poor/small 4" rip drivers seat. I probably couldn't get $3000 but I'm keeping it because its such a nice car to drive. In fact if I'm going for a long drive, greater than 300 miles, I take the S80 instead of any of my other cars like my Merc S55-AMG Compressor, or my Saab etc etc. So that's my rant. Sell it for what you can get and end the head aches, because if you keep it and get it into driving condition it sounds like there will be something expensive to fix every 2 or 3 months. Hope this helped
