2002 S80 T6 (turbo) New Owner :D
Hey all. First off, I've spent a few hours browsing the S80 section here and I'm pretty pumped. We've got a good group here!
I love this car. I was shopping around for a looooong time before I found it, and when I did I was extremely impressed. Bought it for my new family and I as my wife's 05 Aveo Timing Belt went on the freeway ! Hopefully that won't happen to this one.
I'm in the Army and just PCSd so money is tight, but I've got a good plan blocked out (imho). 74K miles
1. Replace all four tires (they are all just at the wear mark)
2. Replace tensioner and Idler pulleys as well as the Serpentine belt
3. Replace Timing belt and water pump
4. Look into gunky reddish-brown oil all over the uppers (may be a turbo issue) Also, when oil dip stick is out there is a small ammount of steady steam/smoke(white) that billows out.
5. Enjoy my bone stock baby in between regular mnt.
Thanks all!

welcome and good luck
umm the smoke out the dipstick is you breather box, its clogged, instead of a PCV valve volvo thought it would be more "fun" to put a box under the UIM that would collect crap and clog over time, anyways that box needs to be either cleaned or replaced, its a hard job, otherwise you run the risk of ruining the gaskets due to higher than normal internal pressure, the dipstick may shot out and spray oil all over the bay while driving..
fun times

Hey guess what just happened!!
Remember back in July when you told me to replace the breather box.. Yeah well the dipstick shot out and there is oil all over every damn piece of equipment. I'm super broke waiting on my tax return so I can buy all new brakes / rotors/ calipers, but now I need to have this fixed and take care of the mess.
Any idea how much this costs?

If you DIY it its <$50 in parts. Or you could roll the dice and try to clean the box rather than repalce it which knocks about $28 off the $50. Checkout the other post I made here with a parts list.
