2005 S80 Driver's Headlight Out (HID)
Sorry for first post being a question/problem, however, I can't seem to find the answer. Search was not successful.
Our driver's side headlight is out (get low beam failure message, but neither low nor high work). I guess it's HID, as it doesn't match what's in the owner's manual. There's a black metal heat sink looking cover over where the back of the bulb should be on the back of the headlight. High and low beam seem to be the same bulb, just angle changes.
I have read that ballasts go out more often than bulbs on these. How do you replace a ballast? How do you know if that's the problem?
Sorry for being ignorant. Thanks in advance for the help!

yep..I've had the same issue on both sides...bulbs actually checked out ok as well as the fuses...as I have found with most of my s80 issues, the entire fixture had to be replaced. Just pop out the old one and pop in the new one. I found a guy, Joe, through Ebay that has great proces for new parts and used him to replace both my from headlights...ebayparts@volvo-oc.com. Not pushing him, but he has great customer service and the parts are spot on. good luck!
