Unhappy 2005 S80 headlight aiming issue

Unexpectedly both headlight beams have changed their aim to just a short distance in front of the car. The adjuster screws cannot be rotated to raise the beams. They used to be perfect but because they are incorrectly aimed, safety when driving on highways is compromised. Yes, high and low beam can still be selected. Can anyone tell me what I need to do fix this. The headlights do have a ballast at the back of them.

Probably, there is an issue with the headlight level sensor or the wiring connected to it. I'd recommend checking the connections and wiring of the sensor to make sure everything is okay and not damaged. Also, check the headlight mounting brackets and adjuster mechanisms for any wear or misalignment. And if possible, get a diagnostic scan to find any electrical issues.

Thanks so very much Niklas. Would you give me an indication of where that headlight level sensor is located. I'll follow through with a check on it along with fulfilling your other suggestions. Also, can you tell me what type of headlights these are. The entire reflector assembly moves slightly when hi/lo beam is selected. Is it Zenon, Bi-Zenon or HID or something else???
Kind regards with appreciation.
Dave
