2008 Volvo S80 T6
Hello all,
I drive a 2008 Volvo S80 T6. This is my second Volvo and as much as I love it, I’m heartbroken because this car has been a problem since we got it. We have already spent over $2500 in repairs in the two years we’ve owned it and it’s been out of commission for at least 6 months of the last two years we’ve owned it. The most recent repair included a new starter and battery, less than 6 months ago.
The current issue at hand is that the car will not start. For a couple days prior to the no-start, I noticed the vehicle would struggle to start and the engine would “stutter” so to speak while in idle (at stoplights and when parked). In fact, the car completely died once while my family was sitting in it at a grocery store.
The car has a push-to-start. When you push the button, the dash lights up, headlights come on and you here a single click from under the hood, but no start.
We ran the codes on our OBD2 and pulled a P0725 and a P1719. It is my understanding that these are both transmission codes. Can anyone shed some light on what’s going on here? We fear it’s going to be a transmission issue (obviously) that will essentially render the car useless to us as the expense to have it fixed is more than what the car is even worth at this point. We own the car outright and due to COVID, we don’t exactly have the funds/resources for a huge repair, nor can we just up and trade-in the car for a new car (used or not.) I know I’m looking for a Hail Mary here but I had to at least try. Thanks all, and safe travels!
