Hello, I'm new to this forum. I was wondering if anyone could give me some insight on the replacement of a timing chain in my Volvo engine. 2008 Volvo S80 T6 with 125,000 miles. I have replaced a belt on other engines, but was wondering on the procedure for doing so on this engine. Any insight or information of any kind pointing me in the right direction would be great. Thanks in advance.

 

The chain is a lifetime chain

 

Does that mean it never needs replacing? I'm just getting into the higher mileage realm. I want to protect my self. There is no interval for replacing the chain?

 

No, there is no service interval for it.

 

Thank you for the info. How solid are the trannys? What service should I preform?

 

Haven't seen many trans problems on them yet. Volvo only recommends fluid replacement if used for towing, every 52,500 miles.
