2009 S80 V8 Warning Message
Hello,
I recently purchased a used 2009 S80 V8 with 65K miles on it. It is a nice car and I enjoy it very much.
Tonight, I was going for a ride and decided to open the car up a bit. I pressed down the gas pedal heavy when the car was shifting between gears (probably 2nd and 3rd). The engine revved up high, a check engine warning appeared, and then a shift up or reduce engine speed engine was displayed for less than a minute.
For the rest of the night the car ran perfectly fine. No further messages were displayed. Twice, I tried to repeat the circumstance by applying heavy throttle from stand still. Both times the engine ran smooth and no problems occurred. When I got home I checked the engine oil and everything looked great.
I am thinking it might of been a rev limiter kicking in? I have searched the internet and saw responses ranging from its nothing to check your plugs/ignition coils.
What do you all think?
Also, I do not plan drive like this all the time.
Thanks.

I took it for one more test drive and was not able to replicate the problem.
Another forum is suggesting changing transmission fluid.

No it had nothing to do with the fluid. Once again when the check engine light comes on and the slow down or shift up message comes on it is because the engine has misfired. I personally don't like generic scan tools just because they aren't designed for one specific car like ViDA is. But if it isn't acting up and you can't get it to do it again just drive it the way it is. If it happens again I recommend going to the dealer to get the codes read and possibly diagnosed.
