Not sure if I will get help here as the thread is so old.
So my 2008 S80 T6 AWD with 170K miles was waiting to give me a ride home from the airport. A 1/2" gap in the sunroof seal has added some moisture to the cabin. Late night and no blower to defrost the windshield; it never has any issue with speed or control on/off the week before when I parked it.
Got home and checked the #11 fuse found on the lower tier of the engine compartment fuse block. It was good so the next step was to determine if resistor or blower was bad.
I chose the resistor, replacing it (with an aftermarket with decent reviews) and now have the blower working at 1 speed and it will not shut off. Timed it for 10 & 15 minute runs before restarting the car. Temperature control works allowing heating and cooling at 1 speed.
Called the online tech help ($$) and the tech suggested I check the fuse for output to determine if power was from it or somewhere else after the key is removed. Never mentioned the afterblower function or the number of the HVAC fuse. Was he speaking of the #11 fuse to check? Working in the drive it got dark so I had to disconnect the battery for the evening.
Sunrise is in 2 hours and I wonder what I should do next. I'll connect the battery and begin again. Is it a bad part though it has the blower working at 1 speed? Is it a short from overheated wiring before it died in the parking lot? Do I allow the blower to run until it stops? What damage may I be allowing if I let it run? Could it be a bad control board? Is there another fuse blower?that will kill the
Has anyone else had the same occurrence after replacing the resistor, if so, I couldn't find the thread...
Thanks

Just a thought here - If the blower is blowing after the new resister but wasn't with the original then I'd suspect the new resister. Is the company that made/ sold it charged me for a phone call I'd demand my money back or set up a dispute on my credit card. Then I'd buy an OM /OEM part. Those blowers work all the time, if it's not dead yet I doesn't have a lot of years left. Personally I'd put a new blower in too, primarily because it took days for my back to "realign" after doing mine, don't think I want to do it soon again.
