Default Aftermarket Stereo Questions

Hi, I just installed an aftermarketalpine deck in my 99 s80. However, I have recently been having some issues with the car. After looking at these forums last night, I saw that a person should have some software uploaded so that the car does not try to recognize the stereo. Can I still have this done even though I have the new stereo installed? (I can always take it out but removing all of the ampwiring would be a pain in the @$$). Before this, I was driving the car around for about a week with no radio in it at all. After putting about 350 miles on it, my check engine light came on, as well as an SRS airbag warning. Could these warnings be related to the lack of a factory radio?

Yes they can and yes you can still have the software downloaded with out removing the radio.
