i just switched to castrol syntec on my 99 S80 T6. It is better for your car to run on synthetic oil, go ahead and use it.

Royal Purple is great but a bit pricey if I remember right.. of the walmart brands Mobil 1 is my choice followed by Castrol Syntec...

When not in the US, its a toss up between Mobil 1 and Shell Helix Ultra...

There is NO harm in switching to synthetic, it can only help the engine...

I dont know how turbo's work, but why is it that i hear a lot of people saying: "if your car has a turbo is almost a must to use synthetic", my manual recommends synthetic actually

also, why the heck does our (S80 T6) low compression bi-turbo V6 engine use 6.9 Litres of oil ?????? that's a lot, my last V6 (97 nissan maxima 3.0L N/A) used only 4 litres...

The turbos use engine oil for lubraction, thus the increased oil capacity helps keep the engine and turbos lubricated.

I've used Mobil 1 since I purchased my S80 T6 at 30k miles. I change it every 6 - 7k miles and it's still visibly clean at that point.
