Default Airbag Light

I took my car into Best Buy to get my satellite radio installed. When I got it back it had a warning message saying something like "Airbag Service Urgent". The guy at Best Buy told me it should go off in 9 days. Is this true?

Also, I got a message saying "Transmission Service Required" that has been there for a while. It came on once after my transmission hesitated when changing gears once. My check engine light was on too so the Best Buy guy pulled the codes and told me it was an oxygen sensor but didn't say anything about the transmission. Now the transmission message is gone. Is this transmission message something I should worry about?

Thanks!

I would have all the codes for all systems pulled and cleared.

Your "air bag service urgent" is most likely due to the battery not being disconnected or having it disconnected without the ground wire being pulled first, when you had the radio installed. The positive terminal being pulled first can arc and cause the computer to freak out.

I experience the same issue when I had some transmission work done. I have a basic code reader but it would clear the code. Because it is a safety code it requires a specific code reader. I had to nag the tranny guy until he found a garage that could clear the code. The dealer wanted around $100.

Good luck

Always pull the negative terminal of the battery first.
