I have a 2000 S80 with a little over 100,000 miles on it. It is a turbo model. I have had my airbag light come on everymorning when I start the car. It stays steady for about 10 minutes, then it begins flashing. Sometimes it will flash and return back to steady, other times it will flash and then dissappear. I am worried that it may be an indication of the airbags malfunctioning, that I am at risk while on the road. I took it to our mechanic who has the machines needed to test the codes, but says there is nothing being indicated. He is at a total loss and recomends taking it to the dealer. Does anyone have any suggestions? I would prefer to avoid the dealer in our town.

Are you sure he had all the proper tools to read the codes?

 

Yes,

He has all the proper tools. He even took it to someone else who has the ability to find anything wrong, and they could not get any codes out of it.

 

Im thinking that, are some things only diagnosable at the delearship?

 

It might be a problem in another module did he try to read codes in all of them?
How about the CEM?

 

He told me that he looked for any code, that no codes anywhere were coming up. I was watchin it yesterday as I was driving. The airbag light stays solid, but when I was going downhill putting on the brakes, it started to look like Morse code. It would be solid....then blink three times...go back to solid.....then after about 5 seconds...blink 3 more times, sometimes two times. Once I got home and then left the house an hour later, the light did not come back on at all.

 

I would have to see it to help more from here.
