Default Blinker switch

I have a 2006 S80 and my blinker switch (the one in the car that you move to make the blinker lights flash) doesn't seem to fully engage. It doesn't start the blinker sometimes, and blinks really fast at other times, then starts regular pattern. I would think it's a bad switch in the steering column, but wanted to see if anyone has had this problem, and how they were able to fix it.

Thanks ,
David

it needs a new stalk and you will need to tell them if it has the scroll for data or not.

Default Who to install

Thanks for the reply. Is that something that someone with moderate ability with tools can do (removing screws and plugging in a few wires), or do I need to get it done at a dealership? It seems to be working now, but I know it will act up again.

BTW, it does have the data twist thingy.

Thanks again,
David

You can do it, t-25 torx, long and skinny, and small phillips. Remove lower steering wheel cover, 3 torx, and then you will access the 2 phillips on the stalk. Make sure it is lined up when installing. 20 min.

It will be more with the data scroll.

May sound stupid, but before you go to all that trouble, have you checked to make sure its not a relay in the trunk causing the non-blinking/irregularity?

Default Relay

Sorry to be so ignorant, but how do I check a relay? The car is only 4 years old, so I'm surprised that the switch would go, but I know sometimes these things are faulty.

If there is an easy way to check the relay, please let me know. I know that the first step is to start with the easiest possible problem.

Thanks,
David
