blinker trebleshooting
my blinkers go on but wont blink??? does anyone know what this could be?? I got a quote for a new switch ...the guy said it was a $200 part???? i think that is outrageous...could i just replace something myself..please help
I've been having the same problem. Someone told me to check the fuses and pull out the one for the hazrd lights then put it back in, that should reset it. Someone else said replace the switch. If your lights stay solid instead of blinking, chances are it's the swtch, but it would not hurt to try the first suggestion. Mine worked fine after I tried it. Also, turn on and off the hazard lights switch, that could help.
Remove the front turn signals. Look in there closely there is a spring that holds them in. Remove both sides and inspect the wires. Check the bulbs as well. If all looks good unplug both front sockets then install a new fuse and see if it blows again. If it doesn't plug the sockets back in 1 at a time and see if the fuse blows again.
Hi thanks for the instructions. When I remove the sockets, the blinkers blink twice as fast and the fuse does not blow. The wires and connectors all look good, except for the ground wire on the left side, which was completely corroded and fell off in my hand. When I plugged the sockets back in and put a new fuse in everything was fine until I closed the door to the car, when I saw a flash and the fuse blew again. I assumeI need to reconnect that ground, but is that what caused it to blow again?

Are both front & rear blinker bulbsstill alive? If onehas a burned out bulb, the blinker would either remain on orblinks faster. This is true on many makes but since I have not had this problem on my 850, I am not 100% certain.

Tech,
A new development: Unplugged both sockets, then one at a time, everything was fine. Lowered the vehicle off the jackstands - poof! Out went the fuse. Now with the sockets plugged in or out, the fuse blows as soon as I put it in. (By the way I never reconnected that ground wire). I tried looking at the wiring diagram in the Haynes manual but I dont know how to read it. Are there any wires routed near the springs or shocks? I did notice the battery terminal wires and connectors are old and somewhat corroded. Should I replace those? Any other ideas? Thanks for the help.

I would clean then to start.
I believe the wires run into the fender then go through a hole into the engine compartment.
You might have to pull the inner fender liner to see the wiring.

There is rivets you will have to drill out to pull the fender liner back and look inside.
I would use something like brake cleaner or something like that so the rest evaperates pretty quick.
