Default Brake Failure/Service Urgent Message

I've noticed that sometimes when I brake hard (30mph+ to 0mph), I will get a quick "BRAKE FAILURE SERVICE URGENT" message for a second or two, but the car stops just fine. Any idea as to what might be causing this (before I take it to the dealer and get charged $800.00 for a brake job)? By the way my last brake job was about 9 months ago.

Is the fluid level close to the low level?

Now that you mention itI just had an oil change and tire rotation. I assumed that the dealer would have checked my fluid levels, but as they say you should never assume. I will take a look at my brake fluid level. Hopefully that's the problem.

If there is fluid and the light goes off what should you do?

Get the car scanned with a scanner than can communicate with all the modules in the car. Either a good scanner or a shop using Volvo's VIDA software. That way you can see what error codes are stored in the ABS module and others.
