Buying A Volvo part 2
Hello its me again. I posted a thread a couple weeks ago about buying a volvo and got some really good advise. Wondering if I could get the same feedback again.
2000 volvo
Came across this 2000 S80 T6. The car has only 108,000 miles and looks great priced listed as $3950. Called the guy and he told me a couple things wrong with the car. First he said the shocks on the front left tire need to be replaced. Apparently its a $70 part. Second he told me that the automatic door locks dont work. I know these electrical things can get expensive, but do you guys think it could be worth it if I talked him down to $3500?
Thanks!

Personally I'd pass unless you find some (documented) evidence that it has been regularly maintained.
Do you plan working on it yourself? Shocks are rarely replaced singularly, at the very least you will replace both on same axle. If you are having a garage doing it, I'd say it would be $300/side easy
Timing belt done?
4 good tires with even wear?
If not there's nearly a grand in that alone.

The alarm system often goes causing the door locks and sun roof to malfunction. If it has a sun roof, see if it opens. If it does not, figure $400 to fix alarm system.
These cars are nice cars but are very expensive to keep running once you pass 100K miles.
Common problems include transmission ($3000), lower control arms and upper shock mounts on front suspension, alarm system, ABS controller ($250-$900).
