2000 s80. Buzzing sound coming from behind middle of console. Changes some with tapping or pressing on front or side of console. Occurs with ignition off or with car running. Playing CD, cassette tape, running heating or AC, no difference.

 

hmm could be something loose . Or make sure that you dont have any loose things like metals pieces inside the rear ashtray holder or inside the center console

 

The sound is more electric in nature, like something is continually running, not like something is loose. I have heard some say that this could be a small fan for the air sensor (I assume for climate control), but I don't know where or what that is.

 

my 2000 s80 also makes this noise sounds like computer fan and definately coming from heater control

 

I took the console apart and found that the noise is from a small climate-control fan. It has nothing to do with the CD player and won't eat your disc.
